306 viewsThese are the trunk and conv. top hatch lid hinge assemblies. They appear quite different from stock ones, as they had to accept the first corvette hardtop and no soft top. This car never came with a soft top, but one owner tried to install a top from a 1957 at some time in its past. He was not successfull because of some of the modifications to the doors and windshield. More to follow on this topic some time down the road a bit.

717 viewsfrt nose emblem has a flat plate and the studs have approx. 1/32 inch hole drilled through them with a cotter key to hold them in place. the only thing i can think of is that someone wanted them to be easily removed for cleaning and waxing of the car. I have been told by previous owners that the original hubcaps came with horn button emblems in the centre of the hubcap. This fact is confirmed by some of the GM styling studio pictures of the motorama corvette. Funny thing is, I bought some 1953 hubcaps off ebay that had the centres cut out of them . Interesting, anybody have any other ideals ? please email questions or answers to bruce@1954motoramacorvette.com

225 viewsThis is the prototype push button that opens the door. Its a very interesting part, When you are pushing on the button, how is the door supposed to open? The answer is. The door lock reciever on the door post has a spring loaded piston that pushes the door open after its released. See the other pictures. It appears to be the same lock that was used in ex122. As far as I know the two that we have with this car are the only two in existance. You can see the hand made file marks on the cylinder. The top of the cylinder is a complex curve so as to fit the curvature of the door at the point of install. Double click on any picture to leave your comments or questions, under comments and votes.

277 viewsCan you imagine the the amount of work that went into these parts to produce the first set of locking exterior door locks for corvettes. When i saw these parts 35 years ago i was amazed then, as i am now. I knew that no private customizer would have spent the amount of money to build these intricate experimental parts. These parts were what led me to box up the car and put it into storage for thirty five years, until i could prove what corvette it really was.
