716 viewsThis is the drivers side prototype moulding off the first Corvette Hardtop. Its made of bronze and its very heavy. It takes two or three people to lift the hardtop off the car. All of the mouldings on the hardtop are made of the same material. Note the experimental part number 1-10201 molded into the backside. Double click any picture to ask questions or make comments.

223 viewsThis is a picture of the side of the hardtop where the side moulding fits over. You can see the heavy use of fiberglass cloth that was used. Again you can see some of the original paint and colour.

245 viewsThis is a picture under the front header molding on the hardtop. The moulding was never removed before i removed it. The color under the moulding is a burnt copper candy colour . You can also see the colour that ppg formulated for us to match the original colour. This is probably the only 1953 corvette that came from the factory without white paint. There are many areas of the corvette that show the first coat of paint the same colour as this picture. Those areas will be documented here as well as pictures taken to varify.

223 viewsThis is the original rear deck lid. It has been modified to hide under the hardtop. I believe it has also been modified to try and make a softop fit . This modification was done by the first owner . That has been documented from Bill Patterson. The deck lid stil has the original paint in some areas, as well as a copper red flocking on the insert panels. Pretty cool ! Notice the hole for the anchoring of the hardtop. The original soft top holes have been glassed in, indicating that it may have had a soft top when it was pulled from the assembly line.
